Celebrating The Life Of Leo C. McGee Sr.

Leo Craig McGee was born on July 7, 1960 in Los Angeles, California.  He was the second son born to Leo Alfred and Kay McGee.  His older brother Von and younger sister Stacy completed the family.  They were faithful members of Sunnyside Baptist Church.  He attended 52nd Street Elementary, Bret Harte Junior High and George Washington High School and later took college courses at California State Northridge.

 

In 1971 Leo was blessed to unite and blend with a new family.  He gained a wonderful father, Willie Phillips, and three brothers Richard, Willie, and Alford.

 

 In June 1979 he began working for Pacific Telephone as a Messenger.  He was extremely passionate about his career and quickly made a profound impact on everyone.  Sometime in 1983 he began working as a installation technician.  His hard work, smile and jovial personality made him a super tech.  

 

On June 1, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married the love of his life Ana Smith. Together their love blossomed. Soon after Leo, Jr. was born.  In July 1989 Christina joined the family. He was a wonderful husband and father.

 

In 1998 he was promoted to Manager.  He was a true leader who worked hard to ensure all customers received excellent service.  

In June of 2010 he accepted his call to ministry.  He preached his first message, and everyone was convinced of the call on his life.  He taught Sunday School, Bible Study, he fixed anything that was in disrepair, and was always willing to help anyone in need.  He also began leading Bible Study at the Dream Center enthusiastically leading people to Christ.  He spent time ministering at a convalescent home spreading the gospel.

 

Leo enjoyed watching old Kung Fu movies and Animal Kingdom show.  One of his favorite past-time was to drive to Las Vegas and enjoy the bright lights.  He flourished in the ministry of helps, helping everyone, everywhere, with everything.  He was a blessing to all.

 

Leo departed this life on January 13, 2021.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, coworker, and neighbor.

 

Leo was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Phillips, and father, Leo Alfred McGee, his brothers Von McGee and Willie Phillips, Jr. He is survived by his father Willie Phillips, Sr.; his wife Ana McGee; his son Leo (Aanchal) McGee, Jr.; his daughter Christina; his sister Stacy Rhodes; his brother Richard (Bridget) Phillips, Alford (Sarah) Phillips; her two grandchildren, Neriah and Zillah McGee.  Leo also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.  He holds a special place in many hearts and will always be remembered for his generosity, loving heart, and his unyielding strength.
