On Thursday, November 24, 2022, LaVon May Turner, loving wife and mother of Four children passed 

away into the arms of Christ at the age of 87.

LaVon was born on March 22, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lola and Harry Clark.

She married the love of her life, Thomas Avery Turner Jr, on June, 11th 1962. They were each other’s 

lifelong companions and were blessed with three sons, Thomas, Jesse, and Shawn and one daughter, 

Dawn.

LaVon had a passion for her family, and her faith. She took pride in being a mother and wife. Her hope 

sustained her through many trials. She was known to always have a smile for friend or a stranger. She 

had an infectious laugh that lit up the room. She had a love for reading; you could always find a book 

sitting by her. She was always thankful and had an easy-going, compassionate spirit. 

LaVon was preceded in death by her father, Harry, her mother, Lola, and her husband and friend, 

Thomas Avery Jr, and infant son. She is survived by her four children: Thomas Avery the 3rd (Jill), Jesse, 

Shawn (Cindy), and Dawn, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, her brother Wayne, her 

sister-in-law Eunice, her niece Sharon (Mike), and her daughter-in-law Wendy.

LaVon will be remembered fondly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and a faithful servant.
