Kayode Muyiwa Obituary

Oct 11, 1958 - Apr 24, 2022

This obituary is administered by:

Sir Kayode Kamson Abayomi Adepoju Solomon Muyiwa

Sir Kayode Kamson Abayomi Adepoju Solomon Muyiwa was born in Ogbomosho, Nigeria, West Africa on October 11th 1958 to the late Julianna Mopelola Tella and Rev. James Folorunso Muyiwa at Jagun’s Compound.

Kayode being baptized in a Baptist Church in Nigeria at such a young age paved the way for him to lead a devoted life to God. Throughout his lifetime, he called many places of worship home. In October 2021, Kayode became a member of the Celestial Church of Christ, Kings of King Parish.

Kayode truly loved his family in Nigeria so much so, that he found a way to America by any means necessary. Upon graduating from Baptist High School Jos in 1974, Kayode began working with Julius Berger, a major civil engineering construction company in Nigeria. His dream was to become an aeronautical engineer. In 1980, Kayode moved to Belgium where he attended school until 1982. After his time in Belgium, he journeyed to America and settled in Chicago building a life with some of his closest friends. He knew that America would challenge him and give him the continued education and financial resources that he was seeking in order to take care of his family back home in Iwo Osun.

Kayode will forever be known for his giving heart. He would give to any and every one which was always tested by his faith in God. Kayode was a loving and caring husband, father, sibling, uncle, godfather,  and friend.

Kayode leaves to cherish his memory: his loving daughter Juliannah Ayojumoke Muyiwa and loving son Abayomi Dwayne Smith; his devoted wife Olufunke Muyiwa; sisters Toyin Oyesiji (nee Muyiwa), Bose Muyiwa, and Titi Oladele (nee Muyiwa); and brothers Segun Siyanbade, Dapo Muyiwa, Rotimi Muyiwa, Kunle Muyiwa; aunt Mrs. Akintola; and a host of friends, family, and other loved ones.

Kayode enjoyed cooking, reading (Tuesdays with Morrie is one of his favorites), debating, listening to music (especially classic records of Fela Kuti and Bob Marley), watching movies (cartoons and westerns were his go to), woodworking, fishing, eating burgers with fries and mayo, writing poetry, driving on long road trips, talking on the phone for hours with loved ones, giving to charities, and playing with his furry grandchild Bella. When missing him becomes too much to bear, participate in one of his favorite activities to comfort you and reassure you that he will always remain within our hearts.

You can to the family or in memory of Kayode Muyiwa.
