A life full of joy.
Joeseph Gallardo of, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the age of 86. After several months of declining health, Joseph died peacefully with his beloved wife Amelia and their children by his side.
Joesph was born in Chicago on March 02, 1954, to father Charles Gallardo and mother Lillian Gallardo. The oldest of three sons, Joseph didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped out on his family’s small farm and worked any odd jobs he could find starting at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him enlisting in the Army at age 18. He was stationed in Nice, France from 1973 -1979.
At the end of the war, Joseph returned to Texas and used his G.I. Bill benefits to buy property next to his family’s farm. Together with his father, they grew the family business exponentially. This growth helped bring economic prosperity to Texas. Joeseph invested heavily in the town’s youth. He funded scholarship opportunities for outstanding students. Through these endeavors, he met local schoolteacher Amelia Gallardo. They married in 1982.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Samuel Gallardo and Donald Gallardo. He is survived by his wife Amelia Gallardo; children Margaret Gallardo, Junior Gallardo and Melissa Gallardo; grandchildren Yasmeen Awwad, Lina Awwad, and Savannah Gallardo; and great-granddaughter Vienna Gallardo.
A visitation for Joseph Gallardo is planned for Sunday, April 03, 2022, from 1 pm to 3 pm. The visitation will be at the Castillo Funeral Home on 520 N General McMullen Dr, San Antonio, Texas. All are invited to attend. The funeral will follow immediately at 3 pm.
