Stanford Joan Beverly (Dillman) Stanford, aged 74, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on July 5, 1942 to William and Amy Dillman in West Chester, PA who both precede her in death. Previous places of residence are Westerville, OH; Willowdale, PA and Newark, DE. In 1960 Joan graduated from Upper Darby High School, Upper Darby, PA to pursue a career as an administrate professional. She took great pride in the fact that she maintained her skills in shorthand long after most abandoned the skill. Joan worked for an assortment of organizations in varied fields during her career to include Wyeth Labs of Devon, PA; The DuPont Company of Wilmington, DE; The University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Veterinary Center of Willowdale, PA and The JCPenny Insurance Company of Columbus, OH. She retired in 2003 from AEP in Columbus, OH as the executive administrative professional to the vice president of power generation facilities. Joan was an active member of Northwest Presbyterian Church of Dublin, Ohio where she was involved with many activates within the church. She enjoyed the many adventures she had traveling with her husband of fifty years ,Pete, as well as spending time with her family to include her grandchildren and extended family of great nieces and nephews. She was an active member of book clubs and bible study groups and was always happy to spend time with the friends she made in these groups, especially when a nice glass of chardonnay was involved. She shared her husband's love of hockey and for years went to Nationwide Arena as original season ticket holders of the Columbus Bluejackets until frustration with front office management and health issues (caused by frustration with front office management) caused them to relinquish their seats. She secretly loved rooting for the The Ohio State Buckeyes behind her husband's back, whis is Penn State alum and lifelong fan. She is survived by her husband, Peter H.L. Stanford; sons, Peter W. Stanford of Dublin, Ohio, Dr. Jon L. (Angela) Stanford of Carollton, Georgia and Paul E. (Shelley) Stanford of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hailey, Monica, Kassidy and Karson Stanford. She is also survived by her sister, Carole M. Nuneville of Wilmington, DE; niece, Amy L (Brian) Moshier of East Moriches, NY; and nephew, William (Janissa) Nuneville of Newport, DE; three great nieces and two great nephews. A Christian funeral and celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 5 at 11 a.m. at Northwest Presbyterian Church, 6400 Post Road, Dublin, Ohio 43016, the Reverend David S. Schutter officiating. The family will receive friends before the service at the church commencing at 10-10:45 a.m. After the funeral, a private burial service will be held for the family at Joan's final resting place at Dublin Cemetery in Dublin, Ohio; followed by a private reception for friends and family.
