Joan Acoff was born the second of two daughters on May 01, 1956 to the late Gisso Acoff and Ida M. Jenkins- Acoff. Joan accepted Christ and was a testament of what God can do. Joan attended Simeon High School and later Wilfred Academy where she received her Cosmetology Certification. Soon after, Joan moved to Miami Florida where she resided, made friends that she called family for the past 40 years until her demise. Joan had various jobs during her life span however, she loved to cook! This activated another entrepreneurial skill, flourishing her home based business. Joan prepared southern meals and sold them to her faithful customers in and around the surrounding Miami neighborhoods. As we all do, Joan faced many obstacles in life, but, she did the best she could with what she had, her belief in God able her to remain strong and non defeated. God decided that it was time for her to rest eternally during bedtime, the night of June 19th 2021. She leaves cherished memories with her four children. One daughter, Carisa (Sheldon) 3 sons, Rico Sr. (LaTasha) Taradio (Rontanch-Peaches) and Tremayne. 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her only biological sibling, Gloria Acoff, her special Miami family who she called her sisters and their children her nieces and nephews, a host of distant Mississippi family and friends. Joan was loved and will be missed.
