Jim Bono Obituary

Nov 16, 1892 - Jul 09, 1964

This obituary is administered by:

An Eternal Soul

Jim Bono died of multiple sclerosis on July 9, 1968, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was only 76 years old. He was born on November 16, 1892. Bono worked as a garbage collector for the city of Pittsburgh for 55 years before retiring three years ago.

According to the Mercy Hospital report, this disease is associated with genetic factors, but also it can be caused by environmental and infectious factors. What leads to the patient with the increase of physical effort and that with the passage of time his immune system creates constant fatigue in the body.

Bono is survived and mourned by his loving wife "Lucille," of 71, who accompanied and cared for him until his death.

Bono only attended elementary school because, in the early 1900s, schools were still segregated, resulting in increased poverty for some African-Americans. Bono spent 11 years in prison for an assault crime, where he learned to play baseball and developed a unique love for the sport, as well as acquiring a desire to read and learn more about the world. After serving his sentence, Bono met Lucille, with whom he married for 50 years; both grew up in the same city of Pittsburgh, where they met and fell in love, and they shared childhood memories. Lucille and Bono never had children because it was not a priority in their marriage.

Bono had a strong desire to learn new things, and despite being a hard worker, he enjoyed reading and researching topics of interest in his spare time. He liked dominoes and spent his weekends at home with his wife and friends, especially on Fridays, where they would drink and tell stories about their life. He enjoyed watching famous baseball games and was a New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed driving and was always up for a good road trip with friends.

He was never afraid to take on new challenges and always acted with honesty and integrity. He had strong values and was well liked by everyone in his community, owing to his positive energy and charisma. Many in the community share that even though Bono's life was not easy, he always tried to improve every part of himself by helping others and looking out for everyone's safety.

Following his retirement. The church provided Bono with peace and refuge. Every afternoon, he used to help and give charity; He shared several times that his purpose in life was to create peace among others, to create a place where everyone could feel safe and be themselves, where he also said that it filled his heart with devotion and gratitude.

As a man of faith, Bono wished to honor his life with a ministry celebration at Bethel AME Church in Pittsburgh, which will be held on July 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited to this celebration of life, and we hope you will join us in remembering Bono as the fun-loving person who filled all of our hearts with happiness.
