This obituary is administered by:
James Anthony Corroo RACINE —James Anthony Corroo, 82, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015. Jim was born on December 9, 1932 to Anthony and Mary (Postorino) Corroo in Milwaukee. He was united in marriage to Judith Quamme on September 21, 1957 at St. John Nepomuk Church in Racine. They were married for 57 wonderful years. He honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jim was a hard worker, working in his early life for the Internal Revenue Service. Later on he opened two bars and restaurants in Racine, Jamie’s Lounge and Jim’s Parkway. Jim liked playing cards and solving crossword puzzles. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to supporting his grandchildren. Jim was also an athlete. He boxed during college at Marquette University and during his Army years. At one point, Jim pitched a no hitter in 16 inch softball. Perhaps the greatest thing about Jim was his sense of humor and positivity. He always told funny stories and jokes, and had an endless supply of one liners and expressions. To many, Jim was the life of the party. The most important thing to Jim was his family. He cherished every moment he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Jim will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Judy Corroo; his children, Jamie (Jennifer) Corroo, and Kelly (Gino) Modesti; Teresa (Bob Huck) Calliari, and Kurt (Sue) Lorenzini; daughter-in-law Debbie Doyle; grandchildren, Karly Modesti, Michael Modesti, Kerah Miller, Tony Corroo, and Tanner Doyle; and sister, Catherine “Kitty” Bonadio. Jim also leaves behind loving relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary; his son, Michael Corroo; brother-in-law, David Quamme; and mother and father-in-law, Sis and Maurice Quamme. Funeral services for Jim will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 4:00 PM until the time of service at 7:00 PM. Father Mark Jones will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Jim may be directed to his family.
