Dr. Jack Harvey Katz of Pound Ridge, New York, formerly of East Hartford, Connecticut passed away peacefully in Tolland County, Connecticut after over four years of extended illness. He was 69 years old.

Dr. Katz is survived by his wife, Dr. Alexandra Chan Katz of Pound Ridge, NY, and Southampton, NY. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Dr. Linda Reyes Chan of Madison, Connecticut formerly of Morris Plains, NJ and Ridgefield, Ct. and a brother-in-law, Augustine Chan of New York City.

Dr. Katz was born on May 9, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the ā€œbeloved son-in-lawā€ of the late Joey C. Chan and the son of the late Bernard and Ruth Katz of Manchester, Connecticut.

Dr. Katz graduated from the The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Class of 1971. While at MIT he was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. He earned his medical doctor degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University, Class of 1975.

From 1991-2007, Dr. Katz served as the Medical Director of Bristol Hospital in Bristol, Connecticut. He lead, managed and established the Bristol Hospital Primary Care Medical Center. In addition, heĀ served as the Medical Director of Ingraham Nursing Home.

In 2007, Dr. Katz served as the Lead Physician of Internal MedicineĀ of the Charter Oak Health Center in Hartford, Connecticut. He was appointed as the Clinical Medical Director in 2009 and met his future wife, Dr. Alexandra Chan (Katz) who served as the health center's Administrative Medical Director and the Vice President of Dental Services.Ā 

Dr. Katz was also Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut Medical School, where his wife, Dr. Chan (Katz) also held a faculty appointment in the dental school.

He will be remembered for his brilliance and generosity. He was truly a loving and caring internal medicine physician for over 40 years in the state of Connecticut and New York.

A private ceremony for the family and celebration of Dr. Katzā€™s life was held in East Hampton, New York by the Chan-Katz family .
