Ja’Zareyah Rowland

from Richmond, Virginia, United States

Ja’Zareyah Mi’Angel “Jazzie” Rowland passed away on February 6, 2019 at 12:42a.m, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at VCU Medical Center. She was the last born of six children to Shalonda R. MACON and James T. Rowland on November 18, 2018 in Richmond,VA. She was preceded in death by her brother JaZaree Amir Rowland, Godsister LaZareia Haskins, 2 Grandfathers; Barry Scruggs and James T. Wilson, 1 grandmother; Veronica A. Rowland.

Ja’Zareyah Was born premature at 24 weeks weighing 1 pound 4 ounces with an urgent admission in the VCU Medical Center NICU. During her three months here on earth, she touched many lives and was loved deeply by family, and among them was the entire VCU-NICU team. Her life was a brief and precious gift to all of us.

Jazzie’s cause of death was Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), which is a devastating disease that affects mostly the intestines of premature infants, which was hard to fight in an infant of her size. Since birth she was a feisty fighter, made the funniest facial expressions, and made it known when she was being bothered with those expressions. She would recognize your voice and respond to it, whether it was a smile, a long stretch, pouting her lips or putting her hand over her face. Jazzie was one the smallest baby’s born doing the most and everyone that took care of her, loved her in so many ways.

Ja’Zareyah is survived by 14 siblings; 4devoted; Jamontrae, Jayleyah, Jaylesha, and Jaylyne Rowland, 1 Grandmother; Deborah Macon, 2 Uncles; Antwan(Jevon) and Todd Macon, 4 Aunts; Starlett(LaKisha), Temeca, and Regina Rowland, 1 devoted; Calondra Macon, 1 Godmother; Octavia Haskins, and a host of Great Grandmothers, Aunts, Uncles and many many cousins.

To the Family. I am sorry for your loss and hope this scripture bring some comfort at this time. Revelation 21:4- And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes,+ and death will be no more,+neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.+ The former things have passed away.”

No one wants to lose their loved ones. I offer my condolences to the family of Jazzie. I wish to offer much more in the way of comfort. The God of all comfort plans a wonderful future for Jazzie. In the Bible at Luke 7:22, Jesus showed great love for others. He went from city to city, telling people the good news about the Kingdom of God. He cured the blind, the lame, and the deaf. He raised the dead. Jesus even gave his own life in behalf of mankind. What does this mean for us? In the Lord’s Prayer we pray for God’s Kingdom to come and his will to be done. What a wonderful part of that Kingdom rule to bring our loved ones back to us in the earthly resurrection. It’s God’s guarantee that Jazzie will be with us again!
