J L Wilkerson, 66, of Dallas, Texas, passed on January 22, 2023.
J L was born to John Lewis Wilkerson and Lurine Minter, January 22, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Being raised by his godparents, Valton and Ethel Faye Ross, was a divine highlight of his life. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1975, where he was an accomplished football player. He resided with his wife, Mary, in Dallas, Texas, for over 25 years.
J L will be sorely missed and loved by those he left behind. He leaves as his legacy 2 children: Krystal Cryer(Ray) of Cedar Hill; Jason Lamar Wilkerson of Houston. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sister Rylva Craddock (Donald) of Mount Pleasant; brother, John Lewis Wilkerson Jr. (Wilma) of Mount Pleasant; brother, Travis Wilkerson ( Phyllis) of Mount Pleasant. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Gatlon and Reagan Cryer. He will also be missed by an abundance of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he touched that we now consider as family. His kindness, charm, and zest for life are what his family and friends will remember the most.

Lance Corporal Wilkerson served his country for 4 years in the Marines. While there, he received a Rifle Expert Badge and 2 Meritorious Service Awards. He exuded an honorable man who loved and fought for his country until his duty expired. Although he separated from the military physically, the memories and the bonds he built there were forever etched in his heart.
J L found beauty in everything football, especially The Dallas Cowboys. The passion he had for the sport could be felt whenever he watched a game. In fact, in celebration of the Cowboys' playoff win, January 16, 2023, he indulged in a pint of ice cream.
Memorial Service will be held at The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetary, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211, on February 21, 2023 at 11 a.m.
