Flaig, Henry JosephHenry Joseph Flaig, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at Wausau Aspirus Hospital, Wausau, Wisconsin. Funeral services for Henry will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father Valentine Joseph will officiate the service. Private entombment will take place at Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids. The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at the church from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family with arrangements. Henry was born on May 23, 1936 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to Paul Sr. and Helen (Eron) Flaig. Henry grew up in Rudolph, Wisconsin. He graduated from St. Philip Catholic Grade School and Rudolph High School. He married Germaine Zielinski on June 22, 1957 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lanark, Wisconsin. They would have been married 60 years in June 2017.The first eight years of his working career were at Milwaukee Die Casting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Henry and Germaine then moved back to Wisconsin Rapids where he worked at the Nekoosa Paper Mill. Later he was self-employed and owner of Wisconsin Van Lines where he retired. He enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards and he loved to dance to polka music.Henry is survived by his 3 beautiful daughters Linda Flaig Johnson, Lisa Flaig (Special friend Dave Flugaur) and LuAnne (Mark) Birkhauser; 7 grandchildren Jessica (Josh) Russell, Jennifer (Mike) Gillis, Vance Grube, Vaughn Grube, Brad Birkhauser, Brittney Birkhauser and Brandon Birkhauser; 5 great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, twins Henry and Noah Russell and Alec and Aria Gillis who always brought a smile to his face. They are all the love of his life and he enjoyed them to the fullest. He was a Wisconsin Rapids Raider and Assumption Royal fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, cheerlead, wrestle and run track. He was very proud of his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.He is further survived by his two sisters Dorothy (Vince) Polum, Lillian Cisewski and sister-in-law Betty Flaig. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Jr., and brother-in-law Jerome Cisewski. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Henry's name will be established at a later date.
