Harold E. Samuel June 5, 1929 - Dec. 6, 2016 Harold E. Samuel passed away peacefully on December 6, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born on June 5, 1929, at Marysville, California. He was son of Henry Frederick Samuel and Emma Blume Samuel. He was the youngest of twelve children and his death marks the end of an era.He grew up in an agricultural community and his lifelong work was involved in some form of agriculture. He graduated from Marysville High School, attended Yuba Junior college, Cal Poly University and transferred to Fresno State College and received a Bachelor of Science degree. From 1956 through 1961, he managed Augusta Bixler Farms in Stockton overseeing eleven different crop varieties and orchards. He also worked for Robal Inc. where he designed and constructed irrigation canals. From 1972 through 1991, he worked in the Agriculture Banking industry, retiring from Wells Fargo Bank as an Agriculture Appraiser.He and his brother Fred built one of their homes in Stockton and also built their cabin at Dorrington, which would become their residence after retirement. The cabin was close to Lake Alpine which happened to be his favorite location to fish and camp.He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council as well as serving as treasurer and usher. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity while attending Fresno State. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, Stockton. He was the treasurer for Snow Shoe Springs Assoc. in Dorrington. After retirement he and Iris and friends took an Alaskan cruise and also one to the Panama Canal. They covered many miles to camp sites, setting up tents and later towing trailers. One of his favorite pastimes was refurbishing and driving Jeeps. He twice drove the Rubicon Run in the Sierra Mountains. A dream of traveling the Alcan Highway was fulfilled in 1990.Harold fought the disease of Alzheimer's for several years and now he is reaping his rewards in heaven.He is survived by his wife Iris whom he married March 31, 1951 at First Lutheran Church, Yuba City, California. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.He had four children, Daniel (Kathy) Samuel, Rebecca (Michael) O'Ferrall, and James (Janie) Samuel; preceded in death by son Tom (Teri) Samuel. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Alyssa and Dana Samuel, Cleo and Augusta O'Ferrall, Jacob, Zachary and Casey Samuel, Chance and Abigail Samuel, as well as many nieces and nephews.He will be remembered by sister-in-law Mary Eshom and lifelong friend Wayne Mohling. A Memorial Service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 444 N. American Street, Stockton, CA 11:00 am on December 21st, 2016.Donations in his memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 444 N.
