FAIRBORN George H. Cooper, age 89 of Fairborn, passed away Friday September 13, 2013. He was born on July 29, 1924 in Dayton, the son of the late Phillip H. and A. Evelyn (Kurfess) Cooper. George was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; 2 brothers, Clinton and Jesse; and a sister, Betty Elbrecht. George is survived by 3 children, Cheryl (Michael) Herbert, Joyce (Dennis) Whitt; David (Kathleen) Cooper; 6 grandchildren, Scott (Laura) Herbert, Todd Herbert, Jeff Cooper, Erin Cooper, Jerod (Jocelyn) Whitt, Justin Whitt ;10 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Simmerman, Marilyn Christman, Janie Sheaffer; brother, Phillip Cooper; sister-in law, Betty Cooper. The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 17, 2013 from 6-8 PM in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at 11 AM in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1240 S. Maple Ave., Fairborn. The family will also receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
