Fred Bernard Thackeray was born in Brewster, New York on April 15, 1940 to Marry and Samuel Thackeray. In addition to completing his education in Brewster, he worked at Hope’s Drug Store; a pharmacy which his father owned and operated from 1932 to 1988. After Fred’s parents retired, he and the family moved to Los Angeles, California.
Alrhough, a keen and intellectual man, Fred, appreciated the simpler things in life such as a good meal, coffee while reading the entire newspaper, from front to back. The sports section was his favorite part of the paper.
Fred was a social person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed telling funny and witty stories of his youthful days in Brewster. An avid sports enthusiast and lifelong fan of New York Yankees, he would share memories of going to Yankees games with his father.
