Frank Anthony Gregerich, Jr., 77, passed away June 6, 2012. He was born on February 25, 1935, in Roslyn, Washington, and was the son of Manda and Frank Gregerich, Sr. Frank graduated from Thorp High School, where he also played on the grade school and high school basketball teams.Frank married Lillian Belzer in 1959. They had two daughters, Gail Gregerich Brown and Kim Gregerich. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor's of Education. Frank taught math at Moses Lake and Kittitas Middle School, and he coached the 7th and 8th grade basketball team, taking them from a losing team to the top winning team, giving him pride in their accomplishment. His last teaching years were at Morgan Middle School. He also had a twinkle in his eye and great pride when his students would thank him for helping them in math. He was a strict math teacher with a lot of love behind it.Frank was elected County Commissioner and was very involved in building the Bloom Pavilion at the Kittitas County Fairground and having it named after Phil Bloom who was the County Extension Agent. Frank's accomplishments were many. He was legislative chairman for Ellensburg Educator's Association, president of Kittitas County Educator's Association, a member of Elmview Board of Directors, chairman of the board of County Commissioners and was awarded a life-long pass to the Kittitas County Fair, president of Kittitas County Cattlemen's Association, Westside board member, and was active in 4-H activities. His 3-Bar G Ranch was awarded Cattleman of the Year and Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year.Frank is survived by his daughter, Gail Gregerich Brown (Del) of Sammamish; sisters, Marie Hunt of Wisconsin, Bernice Haberman (Bill) and Harriet Bland (Larry) of Ellensburg; brother, Robert Gregerich (Keri) of Ellensburg; grandchildren, Lindsey and Joseph Brown of Sammamish; numerous nephews and nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews.Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Manda Gregerich; wife, Lillian Gregerich; daughter, Kim Gregerich; and sister, Marjorie Mellergaard.Frank was a man with a great heart and was generous to numerous people in the community. He loved his farm and specifically his cattle, his tractors and his dog, JR, who was his buddy.Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12th at Steward & Williams Tribute Center. Graveside services will be held at High Valley Cemetery on Wednesday, June 13th, at 1 p.m. The graveside service will be followed by a reception at Spurs, 1700 Canyon Road.In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Hospice Friends in care of Steward & Williams Tribute Center, 301 E. 3rd Ave, Ellensburg, WA 98926 or to the Frank Gregerich Agricultural Scholarship Fund, c/o Central Valley Bank, 100 North Main , Ellensburg, WA 98926.
