Everett Theodore Small Obituary

Mar 29, 1932 - Jan 29, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Everett Theodore Small Jr. "Ted", age 84, passed peacefully to Heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016. He spent the final few weeks of his life surrounded by his family and friends, many of whom were visiting him for the holiday seasons. He passed early in the morning to join his Dad and Mum, Everett Theodore Small Sr. and Evelyn Speicher Small. He also was met by his beloved sister, Miss Carol Joan Small; a great-grandson, Bradley Cole Hicks; and numerous friends and relatives. Funeral: The home going service for Mr. Small will be held Monday, Dec. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Ted Small and his honorable service. Ted was born on March 29, 1932, in South Milwaukee, Wis. He was the oldest of four children, and he loved his family dearly. He graduated from Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, and went on to serve bravely in the army in the Korean War. Following the Depression, the family moved to Texas and laid their roots. Ted, along with his dad and brother, began building homes in West Texas. Along the way, he attended TCU in Fort Worth. Eventually, Ted formed his own companies, Universal Constructors and Ted Small Construction. Ted was a prime example of the great work ethic of the Small family! Ted was a longtime Hurst resident, but spent the last two years of his life in Stephenville, Texas, near his son and brother. Ted loved to visit with family and friends. Although he had quite the private personality, he never met a stranger, and loved to be surrounded by the company of those he loved. He loved country music, dogs, Judge Jeanine, visiting casinos, watching the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR with Bill Elliott. He was a hard-working family man, and he never missed the opportunity to offer his help to someone else. Ted is survived by three children: Everett Theodore Small III "Trey" (LaQuita Johnson) of Stephenville, Texas; Hollie Heath (Stan) of Hurst, Texas; and Carrie Hicks (Bill) of Peachtree City, Ga. He also had two special stepchildren, Michael Adams of Fort Worth, and Chelyse Harrill (Scott) of Southlake; two beloved surviving siblings, Robert Small (Sheila) of Mingus, Texas, and Diane West (Gerald) of Hurst, Texas; six grandchildren, Chris (Shari), Ryan (Reagan), and Daniel Hicks (Donny), Cory and Casey Coker (Cory), and Amber Small (Tyler); and six great-grandchildren, Braden, McKenzie, Ansleigh, and Roosevelt Hicks, Keegan Coker, and Kinley Small, and one great-grandchild to come in the Spring of 2017. Mr. Small is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends. Finally, the family would like to thank the entire staff and residents of Mulberry Manor in Stephenville for loving and taking such great care of Mr. Small. Although Ted has passed to Heaven, his memory lives on eternally in the hearts of his beloved family and friends.
