A Loving Son, Brother and Friend
On a cold December day (15th) in 1970, Eric William Ferguson and Mary Gail Ferguson welcomed Eric Julian Ferguson into the world.Known as Julian to his family and “Ferg” to his friends, he was the second child born to this union, and with his birth, his sister Tauana now had a little brother. As soon as he could walk, Julian followed Tauana around andaffectionately referred to her as “Sister” because Tauana was too hard to pronounce. He was only in the sixth grade when Tauana left for college but he was not lonely. He grew up loved by his extended family, nurtured by his church family at Trinity Baptist Church and surrounded by wonderful neighbors and friends.
From a young age, Julian loved sports. He played all kind of games with kids from the neighborhood and often made it into the house just as the streetlights were coming on.The friendships that Julian made with the kids on Edgeview Drive and in Kennedy Heights remained throughout his life.Throughout his school years, Julian was active in team sports. He played baseball on the Kennedy Heights Rec and Ed team and played tennis and basketball at Withrow High School.Julian graduated from Withrow in 1989 and attended Central State University. He continued to make new friends over the years but never lost touch with his friends from the neighborhood. He was not an acquirer of things but an acquirer of friends.
Julian loved to spend time watching sports and reminiscing about the good old days. He loved the Cincinnati Bengals and the Michigan Wolverines whether their seasons were good or bad.He could recite every sports statistic and never forgot a great play. Julian inherited his parents love of grilling and his friends were often the recipients of his formidable culinary talents.A good day for Julian was a day spent enjoying the company of those he loved.
On March 6, 2021, God called Julian home to join his heavenly family. He joins his mother Mary Gail Ferguson who preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Eric William Ferguson, his sister, Tauana Ferguson McDonald, brother-in-law Frederick McDonald II, niece Erica McDonald, nephew Frederick McDonald III (Trey), grandmother FlorenceAnn Ferguson, dear friends Richard(Ernie) and Cherri McEntire, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. All who knew him know that he would not want people to mourn his death but celebrate his life by cherishing their friends and keeping them close.
