Edward Michael Ghiz Obituary

Jun 16, 1959 - Feb 13, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Ghiz, Edward Michael Edward Michael Ghiz, 57, beloved husband, father, grandfather (Giddo), brother and uncle passed away suddenly on February 13, 2017 in Texas. Edward was born on June 16, 1959 in Phoenix, AZ, the youngest of six children born to George and Sally Ghiz. He was married to Kathryn Jean Tesch, whom he dearly loved. Edward was a key part of Paddock Pools, the family business, which was founded by his father George in 1958 at the Town & Country Shopping center in Phoenix, AZ. George built Paddock into the largest pool builder in the Valley before his death in 1988. Edward and his brothers Buzz and David were privileged to work with their father for many years before his death and the brothers built Paddock into the largest pool and backyard living company in the country before selling the business in 2005. After the company sold, Edward moved to Kerrville, Texas for a simpler life and that's where he met Kathryn, the love of his life. He established Edward M. Ghiz Construction in the Kerrville area and, of course, quickly became the "go to" custom pool and spa builder in town. Edward's business life was characterized by a very strong and focused work ethic with an unparalleled desire to succeed. He built and grew his businesses using a simple philosophy of always doing the right thing with the utmost integrity. Edward had a larger than life personality and he lived it to the fullest. He loved his wife, his sons, his grand kids, his family, his work, his Dachshunds, his beloved Dallas Cowboys (maybe the #1 Cowboy fan in the world!), and experiencing the joy of being a Giddo (Grandpa). In recent years, he developed a love for riding Harleys with his wife and being out in Gods beautiful Texas Hill Country. Everyone who ever met Edward was touched by immediate impact he had on his or her life. His forward, charming, loving personality and sense of humor made it easy for anyone to get to know and love him. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was an amazing blend of so many of the great qualities of his father and mother, George and Sally. Edward was proceeded in death by his beloved mother and father, Sally and George Ghiz. dward is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn Tesch Ghiz; his sons, David James (DJ); Jonathan Michael and his wife Sharmayne, and his grandchildren, Mason and Malaya. He is also survived by his brothers George, Buzz and David, his sisters, Jazelle and Angelle and their respective families.
