Dorothy Jean HuckabeeDorothy Jean Huckabee was born on April 12, 1923 in Boise, Idaho, to parents Martin Stewart Barclay and Vella Slinger Harvey Barclay. She passed away May 14, 2015. She married Rupert Joseph Huckabee in 1948 and moved to Moscow, Idaho where she continued to work for the Veterans Administration while her husband attended the University of Idaho, earning his degree in Civil Engineering, which led them to various locations across the state. They finally settled in Nampa where he served as City Engineer and Planning Director. Jean served as a Cub Scout leader, Blue Bird leader and was an active member of the PTA, as well as working as secretary at the United Presbyterian Church. After years of volunteer service at Mercy Medical Center, including several terms as President of their Volunteer Auxiliary, Jean began working in the personnel office at the hospital in the 1970s until her retirement in 1988. Jean was a devoted wife and mother, and is known among her family and many dear friends for her life of kindness and generosity. Jean is preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her three children, Thomas Eric Huckabee (Diane); Julia Lynn Vauk (Gary); Michael Joseph Huckabee (Nancy); her grandchildren Ryan Vauk, Tyler Huckabee, Brent Huckabee, Michelle Vauk, Tanner Huckabee, Bailey Utecht, Eric Huckabee, Emily Huckabee, and one great grandchild, Ruby Eileen Utecht, in addition to several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 18 at 11:00 am at the First United Presbyterian Church, 400 Lake Lowell Avenue in Nampa ID 83686. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa, 467-7300.
