Dorothy C. McFarland, age 80 of North Adams, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at her home.She was born on February 8, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to Lawrence and Hallie (Flener) Jennings. She married William R. "Bill" McFarland on August 18, 1956, in Detroit, and he passed away on August 29, 2011.Dorothy lived her early life in the Detroit-Taylor area, before moving to the North Adams area in1992. She graduated from Western High School in Detroit in 1955. She then took college courses at Wayne Community College. Dorothy was a bookkeeper for Bank of the Commonwealth in Detroit for 15 years, and then she worked for Charter National Bank in Wyandotte for 15 years, retiring in 1992.Dorothy is survived by one son; Dale (Linda) McFarland of Romulus, six grandchildren, Nadia (Christopher) Trumble of North Adams, Angela (Casey) Bennett of North Adams, Ibrahim Salameh of Dearborn, Sami (Nasryn) Salameh of Dearborn, Amanda McFarland of Romulus, Shirley Ann McFarland of Romulus, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; William R. "Bill" McFarland, one daughter; Audrey Salameh, two brothers; Douglas Jennings, Ronald Jennings and one nephew.Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 10, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Brian Hendrick officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pease Cemetery, Wheatland Township, Hillsdale County, Michigan.
