Dorothy Clifton , 80, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed on September 20, 2021. Dorothy was born on October 18, 1940. Dorothy was the second oldest of 6 children and the oldest girl out of the bunch. She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved each and every family member with the same fulfilling heart. When Dorothy was only 3 she and her family moved from Huntsville Alabama and moved to Cleveland Ohio where it is her family seeked a new start in life escaping Jim Crow law. As she got older the more Dorothy realized how important it was to keep family together and not apart so she joined up open door missionary Baptist church at age 15 and from there through her vocal skills as a singer she brought everyone together. There was no limit to how far she would go to ensure that everyone around her was taken care of , and one point she worked 3 jobs all at once , as a receptionist for Chrysler , bookkeeper for macys , and also a educator of the baptist Christian religion at the Naacp office downtown. There is around that time she met her husband Claude Clifton and right away they fell in love. They got married on August 16th 1958 and a year later Dorothy had her first child a son , Michael Clifton . 2 years later after that they had another child a beautiful daughter in Karen Clifton, and finally 3 years after that they had their last baby girl in Sherrise Clifton. Dorothy was full of life and made sure she helped out anyone that she could without any hesitation and did her best to put a smile on everyone's face that was around her. She was very involved in the church and never missed a day and made sure all the youth of the church knew he word of the lord , she held fundraisers to raise money for the church , organized sports youth groups for the children , and even pitched in on schol funding to send the youth of the church to college. In the end Dorothy just wanted everyone to have a fair shot at life and enjoy life to the fullest without any regret. She is survived by her husband , 3 kids , 18 grandchildren , and 23 great grandchildren. We will all miss her , she may not be physically here but she will forever be with us all in spirit.
