Donald Van Wyk Obituary
Apr 26, 1925 - Oct 30, 2016
This obituary is administered by:
In Loving Memory Donald "Dale" Van Wyk Dale passed away on October 30, 2016, in Colville, Washington. He was born on April 26, 1925, in Sheldon, Iowa. He lived for 39 years in Gold Bar, WA, raising his family on the Nugget Ranch. His grandchildren have many wonderful memories spent there. Dale enjoyed horses and Harley's. There wasn't a horse he couldn't break, and he spent many years showing his beloved stallion, Crimson Cougar. He made his first trip to Sturgis, SD, in 1995 at the age of 70. He made three more trips riding his Harley, the last time in 2000. Throughout the years Dale enjoyed hunting, which first brought him to the Addy area. In 2003 he purchased his dream log cabin in the beautiful Huckleberry Mountains. He could strike up a conversation with a total stranger and developed many friendships during his lifetime. When it came time for storytelling, he was the best, since he could remember all the interesting details. Dale was greatly loved by his family and friends, and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; children, Tommy, Mike, and Susie. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Brad) Firestone of Colville, Cindy (Dean) Mathiowetz of Gardena, CA; sons, Doug (Lynda) Van Wyk, of Monroe, WA and Chip Van Wyk; grandkids, Cody, Shana, Lissy, Kris, Becky, Mike, Russ and Kaysie, and 20 great-grandkids; sisters, Ardis Holmes, Libbye Ernheart, and brother, Mike Van Wyk. At his request there will be no services. The family will gather for a Celebration of his Life.
