Dominga Losa Castillo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend died peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 29th. She was born on October 16, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas to Esteban Castillo and Guadalupe Rodriguez Campos. At the age of two her mother passed away and she went to live with an aunt, Juanita R. Castillo. At fourteen years old she moved to Burnet to live with her sister, Mary Garcia Silva.
While in Burnet, she met and married Santos Salinas. Together they made their home in San Antonio and raised their six children. She was a woman of faith and an active member of The New Testament Christian Church where she served as a Eucharist Priest and traveled to homes providing communion, volunteered at the thrift shop, served as a God parent to countless children.
She is survived by her children: Rosalinda (Peter) Hernandez of Round Rock, Mary Jane Hyatt of Burnet, Santos “Tito” Salinas Jr. of Bastrop, Paula (Paul) Cook of Austin, Steven (Sindra) Salinas of Burnet, Mary Castillo of San Antonio and Teresa (Dean) Golmon of Burnet. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Isaiah Hernandez, Stephanie Johnson, Charlie Hyatt, Ashli Cook, Matthew Feild, Paden Brown, Anthony Hernandez, Seth Hernandez, Drew Salinas, and Tatum Salinas along with four great grandchildren: Xavien Cagle, Lucas Johnson, Sunday Bryant, and Wyatt Feild and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Esteban and Guadalupe Castillo and grandson Nathan Salinas.
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 1st from 6-8 pm at Dellcrest funeral home. A mass will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00 am at Sunset Memorial park and funeral Home with Fr. Jose Luis Hernandez officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Feild, Anthony Hernandez, Seth Hernandez, Isaiah Hernandez, and Charlie Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Xavien Cagle and Lucas Johnson.
