David DeVar Balls, 65, passed away on Oct. 14, 2013. He was born on Feb. 13, 1948, in Logan, Utah, a son of Devar and Zona Chugg Balls, of Benson. He married Vonna Mecham in 1970. Together they had one son, Ryan David Balls. They later divorced. He then married Pamela Gaye Fowler in 1975. They adopted a daughter, Kiley Lee from Korea. They were later divorced.He graduated from the first graduating class of Sky View High School in Smithfield in 1966. He worked in the Salt Lake City area in the construction and framing business. He was an estimator for building trusses. He later transferred to Las Vegas, and continued to work in the construction business.David was an avid sailboat enthusiast. He lived to sail. You could find him anywhere from Bear Lake to the California Coast, sailing and racing his Hobie Cat Sailboat. Lake Mead was his favorite place to sail because he could get there fast after work or on weekends. He also loved skiing, both snow and water.He is survived by his daughter Kiley Lee of New York, sister Marilyn Briggs of Pleasant View, brother Craig Balls (Jodene) of River Heights. He has three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan, and both parents.A viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Allen Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 North, North Logan. A graveside service will be at noon in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
