We are saddened to announce the passing of Cortez Dunlap Sr, who passed away on June 25, 2024, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born on August 6, 1989, to Malcolm and Chantella Dunlap.

Cortez was a loving father to his two children, Alayshia and Cortez Jr. of Crystal springs Ms; his parents Malcolm (Gretchen ) Dunlap and Chantella Brown, of Jackson Ms. His siblings Jacoby Evans, Hayden ( Jamie ) Mallet. Quarnisha Patterson, Rayshan Patterson, Peelar Wilson , Brenton Dunlap, Brittany (Samuel) Pollard, Malcolm Patterson Jr. His loving Godparents Reverend Franklin & Tracey Mallet, a special friend, Roseanna Thomas, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a devoted husband to Copper and Dunlap Jr. Cortez was a graduate of Morrison Academy high school and had a passion for making people laugh.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents L.V. Dunlap & Ester Ray Curtis, his maternal grandparents, Frank and Merline Mallet, his brother-in-law, Samuel Pollard Jr., and niece Chloe Pollard.

He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love for family, and his ability to always bring joy to those around him. Cortez will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Cortez. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
