Cornelious Carter of Detroit, MI passed away on Tuesday, Febuary 15, 2022, at the age of 67. After several months of declining health, Cornelious died peacefully with his beloved wife Sandra and their children by his side.
Cornelious was born in Detroit on March 6, 1955, to father Charles Thomas Sanders and mother Lillian Louise Sanders. The oldest of three sons, Cornelious didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He was educated throuht the Detroit Public School Syaytem. He helped out on his family’s small business and worked any odd jobs he could find starting at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him enlisting in the Army at age 18. He was stationed inMonterey CA from 1973 -1975.
Cornelious returned to Detroit and brought property next to his family’s business. Together with his father, they grew the family business exponentially. This growth helped bring economic prosperity to Detroit. Cornelious invested heavily in the town’s youth. He funded scholarship opportunities for outstanding students. Through these endeavors, he met local school teacher Sander Carter and they later married in 1976.
Cornelious was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Samuel James Sanders and Donald Richard Sanders. He is survived by his wife Sandra; children Cornelious and Sonya Carter; grandchildren Latia, Emmiaye, Amyre Carter, Lasha Boyd and Lajordan Sawyer; and ahost of relatives and friends.
