Charles Steven HollingsworthBrandon Charles Steven Hollingsworth passed away on January 4, 2017 at St. Dominic Hospital after a lengthy open-heart surgery procedure. Visitation was held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 5-7pm. Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2pm with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. Charles was born on July 11, 1946 in Decatur, Mississippi to Stephen Barry (S.B.) Hollingsworth and Havis Eloise Holt. He was preceded in death by his father, S. B. Hollingsworth and sisters, Angie Hollingsworth and Peggy Davis. Charles is survived by his 96-year old mother Eloise Callahan; wife of fifty years India Lourie Logan Hollingsworth; children Shelley Ranel Purvis (Clay), Charles Scot Hollingsworth (Martha), and Chad Logan Hollingsworth. He leaves five grandchildren that were the light of Pappaw's life, Tauwni Simpson (Seth), Hollie and Stephen Purvis, Jackson and Skylar Hollingsworth.; sisters Winnie McKay (Buddy) and Jo Harper (Larry) and one brother Wayne Hollingsworth (Lynda) and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles worked with Graphic Packaging, Inc., and retired as Printing Superintendent/Scheduler after 42 years of service. In his youth he played semi-pro baseball for several years and was recently inducted into the Mississippi Semi-Pro Hall of Fame. Later he played softball around the United States. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He also enjoyed multiple hobbies, such as woodworking, making crosses and primitive bows with arrows. Charles had a robust personality and a contagious laugh. He was referred to as a "jolly" man by his surgeon just yesterday. He was a kind and loving man who would always be there to help family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but what a legacy to leave behind.
