Jan 29, 1954 - Jan 18, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Charles R. "Chuck" HardestyJanuary 29, 1954 - January 18, 2015Chuck Hardesty of Nampa, Idaho passed away at home with his family by his side on January 18th after a long and arduous battle with cancer. He was born on January 29,1954 to the late Bus Hardesty and Verla Hardesty. He was educated in Nampa and graduated from Nampa Senior High in 1972. After pursuing a golf career in Moses Lake and returning to Nampa to work at Broadmore Country Club and Plantation golf course he then began his career with Union Pacific Railroad in 1975 and soon after became a Locomotive Engineer. He met Debbie Clark at Broadmore Country Club where they were both employed. They were married on October 30,1976. The first of their three beautiful daughters, Coye was born in November of 1978. Britney joined the family in January of 1982, followed by McKinley in September of 1985. Chuck retired from Union Pacific in 2008. As a young boy he enjoyed Boy Scouts with his dad as Troop Leader and baseball with his dad as coach. The two of them went on numerous camping trips with whatever friend was lucky enough to get to go with them. He and his cousin Tom Wickham were joined at the hip and were involved in everything from shenanigans to running their own very successful lawn mowing service. People called for years after looking for those two to take care of their lawns. During his lifetime Chuck pursued and mastered many interests and hobbies including wood working, archery hunting, painting in oil and water colors, rock hounding, bass fishing and golf. His true loves were fishing and golf. He spent 15 years or more fishing in bass tournaments around this region and right here at home on Lake Lowell, winning more than a dozen tournaments and countless trophies. In recent years he enjoyed fishing Henry's Lake with his brother-in-law Manuel. Chuck played golf from high school up until recently when his health would permit. He was a gifted golfer. If you were lucky enough to get to hit the links with him it was like watching poetry in motion. He played golf tournaments all over the valley and especially loved the skins games at Purple Sage golf course. One of his last rounds of golf was with his good friend Joe Rasmussen. He shot 39 on the front and then had 4 birdies, 2 eagles and a par before getting blown off the course and didn't get to finish. That's a good day. Chuck adored his family and his two grandchildren, Amya and his "little buddy" Aiden. He is survived by his mother, Verla Hardesty, his wife Debbie, three daughters, Coye, Britney, McKinley, two grandchildren, Amya and Aiden, three sisters, Sheryle Laursen of Nampa, Charlene Nelson (Rob) of Boise, and Kim Barrera (Manuel) of Pocatello and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Chuck's family would like to thank St. Luke's Hospice for their kindness, compassion and care of our brother. There will be an open house on January 24th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Hardesty home. 515 W Benton, Nampa.
