Carolyn Joy Buford Greer was born on September 30, 1936 in Sherman, Texas to Thomas Carroll and Cynthia Idella Buford. She passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Farmersville, Texas.Carolyn spent the first years of her life living on the Preston Bend Peninsula of Lake Texoma before moving to Denison. She attended Layne Elementary, McDaniel Junior High and Denison High School. Carolyn graduated from Denison in 1956. One of her proudest memories of high school was marching in the 1956 inauguration of President Dwight Eisenhower.Carolyn married Otto Greer on August 15, 1952; seventeen years to the day after her parents were married. Carolyn was divorced and never remarried, devoting her life to her four children. She worked in various jobs in Denison until she went to work at Texas Instruments. While working for Texas Instruments, she worked in Dallas; Sherman; Dayton, Ohio; Lubbock and Austin. After leaving Texas Instruments, she worked for various companies in the Dallas area as their credit managers. Moving back to Denison in the early part of the 2000's, she became bored and went to work at the Choctaw Casino until she finally retired in her middle 70's.Carolyn was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Waples Methodist Church in Denison. She was also a member of the Business Credit Manager Association and the Daughters of the Nile.She never met a stranger and always knew someone you knew.Son Thomas Greer and wife Sharon of Fort Worth; daughter Carolyn Lynn Greer and husband Steve of Richardson; son Warren Alan Greer of Denison and sister Thetis Thrasher of Rowlett, Texas survive Carolyn. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Thomas (Tom) Buford and Cynthia (Idella) Buford and her daughter, Paula Ann Greer Scott and sister Myra Garber. She had six granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 2 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2016.Personal condolences may be made at www.bratcherfuneralhome.com.
