LAURINBURG — Bobby Gene Ikner, Sr., 76, of Lake Waccamaw, passed away to his Heavenly home on May 4, 2014.

Funeral services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Rev. Mike Coble. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Bobby was born on Oct. 23, 1937 in Richmond County, son of the late Jessie Poteat Ikner and Lillian Cane Ikner. He was the loving and devoted husband to the late Annie Belle Moody Ikner and to his second wife, the late Claudius Peterson Smith Ikner. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard.

He served as a longtime faithful member of the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church and a Commander of the Royal Rangers. Bobby was also a member of the American Legion, Frontiersman Camping Group and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. He truly enjoyed camping and black powder shooting.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was also predeceased by his daughter Cindy Ikner Hefner and sons Jimmie Smith and Edward Smith.

Bobby is survived by his children Bobby Gene Ikner, Jr. and wife Rena Ikner of Lake Waccamaw, John Smith and wife Patricia of Laurinburg, James Smith and wife Marcie of Red Springs, and Donald "Tink" Smith and wife Teresa of Wilmington, sons raised by Bobby and Claudius: Jason Smith and Jamie Smith both of Hartsville, S.C., his brother Fairley M. Ikner of Olin, sister Debra K. Ikner of Olin, 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:30- 3 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will also be receiving friends at that family home, 17840 Parsonage Avenue, Laurel Hill, NC 28351

Memorial gifts are requested to be made in Bobby's memory to the Royal Rangers c/o Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church, 332 McLeod Street, Maxton, NC 28364.
