RACINE - Beverly Jane Becker (nee: Meyer), 90, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014. Beverly was born on March 3, 1924 to the late Clarence and Nell (nee: Osenga) Meyer in Racine. She was united in marriage to William Becker on May 11, 1946 at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church. Beverly graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1945 where she met her husband William at a sorority function. After college, she worked as a journalist in Washington D.C. for one year. Beverly worked with her family while they operated the Meyer-Becker Paint Store as well. She was a longtime and devoted member of Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church in Racine. Beverly also worked for many years as a librarian for Racine Unified School District. Beverly was a member of the AAUW and was also involved in the former Racine Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and travelling. Beverly will be dearly missed by her children, Scott (TJ) Becker, and Jill (Ken) Markham; her grandchildren, Mallory, Jason, and Shawn Markham; and her sister, Anna Mae Dollase. Beverly also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Nell Meyer; and her loving husband, William Becker. Funeral services for Beverly will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11am at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church with Pastor Tony Larsen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 9am until the time of service at 11am. Private interment will follow at a later time at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church or to the Racine Public Library in honor of Beverly.
