Barbara Jo BigelowNEWARK: A funeral service for Barbara Jo Bigelow will be held at 12pm on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH 43055. Family will greet guests from 10am-12pm prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens. Lay-Pastor Scott England and Tim Church will be officiating. Barbara, age 77, of Newark, passed away on February 12, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was born on September 16, 1939 to the late Joseph and Helen (Haynes) Church in Newark, OH. Barbara graduated from Newark High School in 1957, where she was a cheerleader and served on the Prom Court and became Homecoming Queen. She continued to support Newark High School and looked forward to having breakfast with her class the first Tuesday of every month. Barbara also loved helping children, she taught youth group cooking classes for many years at St. John's Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her friends. Barbara was an avid OSU fan and treasured the time she spent with her family, whether in Newark or in Florida. Barbara is survived by her husband of 35 years, Norman C. Bigelow. She also leaves behind her children, Deborah (Adrian Maitland) Thompson of Pompano Beach, FL, Kevin R. (June) Thompson of Newark, Melanie Thompson, of Fort Myers, FL; step-daughter, Debbie (Scott) Mahle of Mount Perry; grandchildren, Jaime Hernandez of Fultonham, David (Jessica) Barber of Charleston, SC, Jeremy (Alyssa) Barber of Philo and Matthew (Megan) Barber of Philo; great-grandchildren, Aydan, Brooklyn, Brayden, Koen, Clayton, Brynlee, Grayson, Casen, and Lilly; sister, Patti (Ronald) Raftery; sister-in-law, Joan Church; and nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Darrell Richard Thompson; brother, Thomas Church.
