This obituary is administered by:
Anita Harris BrownJuly 28, 1944 - June 10, 2015Anita Harris Brown our beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and wife passed away on June 10, 2015 at her home in McCammon, Idaho. Anita was born on July 28, 1944 to Joseph Glen Harris and Glenna Glover Harris. Raised in McCammon, she enjoyed a childhood playing in the fields and streams with her Harris cousins - Deanna, ReNae and Jeff who lived nearby. Upon graduating from Marsh Valley High School in 1962, she attended Grimm's Business College and worked at Fawson's Music in Pocatello. During this time, she dated Gary K. Brown (son of Ted and Gladys Brown) and they married June 26, 1964 in the Logan LDS Temple.Anita and Gary lived in an apartment above the Big Store owned by Anita's Uncle Whitey and Aunt Ilene. The next spring, they purchased a home in the center of town where they raised seven children and enjoyed their fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to being a devoted mother and homemaker, Anita acquired her cosmetologist's license at the age of 40 and worked with her sister, Laurel, for a number of years in her salon. Anita loved nature and she and Gary spent many days camping, hiking and hunting with their friends and family. She enjoyed reminiscing and reliving the many humorous stories from these adventures with good friends Jill and Martell Gunter, Gloria and Maynard Marley and other friends and relatives. Impromptu picnics in the surrounding canyons near their home and scenic drives around "the loop" were favorite pastimes from the time she was a little girl. She loved spotting deer and other wildlife and seeing the beauty of the autumn leaves and the spring wildflowers. Anita had a passion for music. She played the piano and had a beautiful singing voice. She sang harmony with various groups over the years for many gatherings and functions, most often with her close friend since childhood, Kathy Brower (Harris.) Anita served in many church positions over the years including the Relief Society Presidency, the Young Women's Presidency and most recently, as a dedicated and talented Primary teacher, always going the extra mile and making each one of the children feel special.Anita ("Nita" to her friends and "Gita" to her grandchildren) is described by everyone who knew her as a kind and generous soul with a light-hearted sense of humor. She was known for being a devoted mother, grandmother and friend - always supporting and encouraging others, always willing to help and serve in any way she could. Anita is survived by her husband Gary and their seven children: LeAnn Brown, Marshall Brown, Karalee Dunn, Darla Brown, Travis Brown, Scott Brown and Kimberlyn Brown. Fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A brother, Jon Harris and two sisters: Lana Marley and Laurel Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stillborn son, Steven Todd Brown (1978) and her granddaughter, daughter of Kimberlyn: Adalyn Belle Brown (2004.) Funeral services will be held on Monday June 15th at 12 noon in the McCammon LDS Stake Center Chapel. Friends may visit with the family at the McCammon Stake Center on Sunday evening from 7-8 pm and on Monday morning from 10:30-11:45 am prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery.
