Jul 24, 1961 - Apr 04, 2020

This obituary is administered by:

A Mother, a Sister, a Daughter, and a Collector of Things

Alicia René Townsend was born on July 24, 1961, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and raised in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey to June Schotanes, age 27, and Ralph Arthur Townsend, age 28. She died on April 4, 2020, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 58.

The youngest of five daughters, Alicia, married at age 18 and moved to Tucson, Arizona in September 1979, only after attending beauty school and having received her license as a nail technician. She had two sons, Christopher and Cody, before moving to Germany in 1983, for three years. She made many friends, whom she kept in touch with throughout her life. After returning to the states, she had two daughters, Cheyenne and Cierra and later received her certificate in bookkeeping where she managed the books for many different companies over the years. In 2002, she moved to Chandler, Arizona where she touched so many lives before returning to Tucson in 2012.

Alicia will always be remembered for the love and affection she showed family and friends. She had a love for her hobbies which included collecting and making jewelry, doing her nails, and also staying prepared by collecting things "just-in-case". As a free spirit, she lived a modern-day gypsy lifestyle, and spread her love by often vacationing in other's homes. Alicia loved to just pop in with the hopes of brightening other's lives even if only just for a moment. Not only was she carefree but also so compassionate, which she displayed by always wanting to help the next person. She was so courageous and fearless, which she displayed in her fight against depression and cancer, where she inspired all who knew her.

She is survived by her former husband, Roy George Deuel; four children Christopher Kelly Deuel, Cody Keith Deuel, Alicia Cheyenne Deuel, and Cierra René Baker (Deuel); daughter-in-law Amber Deuel (Justesen); son-in-law Casey Baker; nine grandchildren Julian Deuel, Jaden Deuel, Joseph Deuel, Lyla Taylor, Aubree Deuel, Adalynn Deuel, Audrey Deuel, Malakai Baker and Kasper Baker; four elder sisters Dale Dorothy Bryan-Behrendt-Hilliker-Lauer-Updike (Townsend), Lynn Ellen Manson-Maellaro (Townsend), Cindy Ann Caruso-Roth (Townsend), Janet Elizabeth Ehid (Townsend); five nieces and nephews Jeff, Carrie, Tamara, Jessica, Kevin, and Calyn and by many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Ralph Arthur Townsend 1932-1997, June Schotanes 1934-2013; step-parents Roy Gilbert Deuel 1931-1987, William Emil Wilke 1927-2013, and Helen Novak; grandparents Mildred Irma Marone 1917-2001, Peter Allen Schotanes 1914-1989, Donald Ridge Townsend 1913-1974, Bertha M. Smith 1909-1937; G-grandparents Frederick L. Smith 1872-1944, Alta Elmira Hoobler 1881-1920, Matilda Celia Mueller 1897-1968, Joseph W. Marone 1895-1976; GG-grandparents John M. Mueller, Catherine M. Hanschuh, Pivate V McClure Smith, Marilda Ludlow, Jacob Hoobler, Margaret E. Smith; GGG-grandparents Abraham Smith and Nancy Burns and nephew Michael.
