Agnes A. Weigel Obituary

Jan 29, 1921 - Mar 14, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Weigel , Agnes A.Agnes A. Weigel, 96, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, treasured mother and Nana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Golden Living Center Three Oaks. Agnes was born on January 29, 1921 to Frank and Maggie (Kennedy) Staeck in Halder, Wisconsin. Upon graduation from Mosinee High School, she was employed at St. Mary's Hospital in Wausau until she married Roman "Bud" Weigel on October 18, 1944 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Halder, Wisconsin and moved to the Weigel family farm in the Town of Marshfield. They were married for 62 years, and together they raised their family of six children and operated their dairy and poultry farm. Agnes was well-loved, and she loved well. She was devout in her love for the Lord, her family, and the Catholic Church. She led her family by example in a selfless lifestyle of generous giving and putting others first. Her home was a daily revolving door of family and friends stopping by to visit with and to be encouraged (and usually fed) by her. No matter how busy she was, she never turned down an opportunity to play a game of cribbage with a visiting family member or friend. She inspired her loved ones with her quiet strength, resourcefulness, creativity, and unique ability to bring fun and laughter to any situation. She enjoyed playing cards, watching birds (especially cardinals), trying new recipes, baking pies and cookies, sewing for her family, creating beautiful quilts, crocheting exquisite afghans and doilies, dancing, singing, and playing music on her guitar and organ. While her humility was undeniable, she was tremendously proud of her family and her "thimbleful" of Irish blood. She will forever be remembered for the way she touched our hearts with her love, patience, kindness, quick wit, and sweet "sassiness"! Agnes was predeceased by her husband Bud, her parents, and all seven of her siblings. She will be greatly missed by her six children, Midge (Roger) Harter, of Stratford; Barb (Steve) Drach, Beverly (Charlie) Schnitzler, Randy (Margaret) Weigel, all of Marshfield; Lynn (Peggy) Weigel, of Stratford; and Julie (Dave) Langer, of Gig Harbor, Wash; as well as her 16 grandchildren, Heidi, Jill, Stephanie, Nathan, Amy, Sadie, Emily, Ellie, Brigette, Micky, Andy, Luke, Kim, Ryan, Jake, and Sarah; and her 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Marie Hustedt, of Wausau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the caring nurses and staff at Three Oaks during the past several weeks, as well as to the staff at Wells Nature View over the past eight years.A memorial in Agnes's name will be established at a later date.Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
