September 6, 1954 - November 8, 2016Abel Puente Escamilla went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 8, 2016. Abel was born on September 6, 1954 to Paz and Felipa Escamilla. He served in the US Air Force for 26 years, was the recipient of the Lone Star Medal of Valor, and for 34 years was the pastor of Iglesia Sur San Antonio on 2026 W. Pyron, San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Elisa Vinton Escamilla; his children: Noah (Brittany) Escamilla, Ashley (Tony) Cuaron, Abel David Escamilla, and his granddaughter Olivia Andrea Cuaron. Abel was a mighty man of God with the servant's heart who devoted his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and had a great ministry of serving others selflessly. His hobbies included vintage cars, playing a good game of golf, and sharing his wonderful sense of humor with everyone he met.Visitation will be on Thursday, November 17 at 5 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7 pm at Iglesia Bautista Sur San Antonio. Celebration service will be on Friday, November 18 at 11:30 am at Iglesia Bautista Sur San Antonio followed by interment at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.For personal condolences please visit www.southsidefh.com.
