MAHER YVONNE BOHATCH M.D. Age 66, of Fox Chapel passed away November 2, 2016, at home surrounded by family. She was born on February 8, 1950, in Akron, OH to the late Andrew J. and Helen I. Bohatch. Yvonne was the valedictorian of the class of 1968 of Villa Maria High School in Villa Maria, PA. She began her professional training and long association with Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., by earning a B.S. in Biology in 1972 and a M.D. in 1976. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown in 1979 prior to moving to Pittsburgh and joining the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Yvonne pursued additional training in Cardiology, completing her fellowship in 1989 at Allegheny General Hospital. She was a founding partner of the Pennsylvania Heart Group, where she practiced cardiology at both St. Francis and Allegheny General Hospitals until her retirement in 2014. Yvonne led a life of service to others including her patients, favorite charitable organizations, and as a member of both the Board of Regents and Board of Directors of Georgetown University. It was to her family, however, that she directed the full measure of her love and dedication. She was married on August 18, 1973 at St. Paul's Parish in Salem, OH and is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Dr. Thomas D. Maher, Jr.; and loving children, Timothy J. Maher (Lauren) of Annapolis, MD, Andrew C. Maher (Jamie) of Wexford, PA, Dr. Katherine A. Maher (David Benchener) of Alexandria, VA, Dr. Michael H. Maher (Meghan) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Thomas D. Maher, III of Fox Chapel, PA. Yvonne is also survived by her sisters, Colette B. Mehle (Roger) of Washington, D.C. and Therese B. Gaus of San Francisco, CA; brother-in-law, Dr. John C. Maher, Sr. (Mary Ellen) of Pittsburgh PA; and stepbrothers, D. Colby Vincent of Douglas, GA and J. Scott Vincent of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, William Gaus; parents-in-law, Thomas D. Maher, Sr. and Frances N. Maher of Pittsburgh; and stepfather, Donald L. Vincent of Salem, OH.
