McCOLL, S.C. — Willie Edward Grooms, Sr., 84, formerly of Laurinburg, passed away on June 5, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Pastor Kenneth Blease. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
Willie was born on Dec. 10, 1929, a son of the late Alexander Grooms and Ellafair Sessoms Grooms. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver retiring after many years of service. He attended the Laurinburg Church of God of Prophecy. Willie enjoyed deep sea fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends.
A brother, James White, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Grooms is survived by his loving wife Louise Brigman Grooms of the home, son Willie E. Grooms, Jr. and wife Sandy of Hamlet, his daughters Charlotte Webster and husband Chris of McColl and Felisa Lockey and husband Gary of Laurinburg, sister Glennie Mae McCollum of Laurinburg, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
