Vaughn, William (Bill),Vaughn, William (Bill), 93, was called home by his Lord on January 31, 2017. He was born on January 15, 1924 in Bengal, Kentucky. Those who knew him would describe him as the perfect gentleman; a person with a gentle spirit who led by quiet example. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, honor and integrity. He was a long time and devoted member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.Bill served his country honorably in the
U.S. Navy in the Pacific campaign during
World War II. While in the Navy from 1943-1946, he served as a member of the catapult team on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin. After the war Bill attended the U of L and graduated from Speed School in 1951. He worked as a mechanical engineer at Westinghouse in Columbus, Ohio, General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky and Jenn-Air in Indianapolis, Indiana.He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ida; parents, Dennis and Lee Vaughn; siblings, Mattie Lee Lyons, Robert Vaughn, and Mary Jewell Graves; son-in-law, Stephen Brennan; great-grandson, Stephen Michael Jones.His grateful and blessed family members are his brother, Dennis Vaughn,Jr. (Mary); daughters, Barbara Koenig (Gene), Mary Hieronymus (Steve) and Joan Blincoe (Glenn); 6 grandchildren, Katie Jones (Mike), Ellen Johns (Trenton), Molly Maguire (Jason), Jill Cook (Bo), Gregg Blincoe (Lauren) and Scott Blincoe; 7 great-grandchildren, Courtney, Annie, Corinne, Mia, Addison, Caroline, and Quinn.Our family would like to express our deep appreciation to Dr. Shirley Meredith and Dr. Lauren Hasselbacher of the Veterans Administration and Dr. Robert Martin for the compassionate care they gave our father over the years. A celebration of his life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 10200 Shelbyville Road with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. from 4-8 p.m. on, Saturday, February 4, 2017 and from 2 p.m. at Trinity prior to service.Expressions of sympathy may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church.Please visit us online at
