WILMINGTON | William Ross West, "Pop," age 85 of Wilmington, N.C., passed away peacefully November 17, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center in Wilmington. He was born on June 3, 1929 in Kinston, N.C., the son of the late Ross and Eloise Ormond West. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean Seymour West, sister, Dot Dausmann and brother, Fred West. Bill worked most of his life in sales and after retirement owned and operated N.C. Inspection Center in Wilmington, near the ocean, where he could enjoy his favorite pass time, fishing. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. Elks. Pop enjoyed life very much and loved his family most of all. He always had a glowing smile and a sincere greeting for anyone he met. He is survived by son, Bill West Jr. and wife, Beverly Lem, of Carolina Beach; daughter, Laurel Lambert and husband David, of Wilmington; sister, Faye Barber, of Greenville, NC; two grandsons, Colton West and Collin Norris; two great granddaughters Na'lia and Jada West; and Godson Craig Husketh and wife Vickie. Per Pop's wishes there will be no formal services. A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date.
