This obituary is administered by:
Wanda Faye BreedingBlaine, TNWanda Faye Hitt Breeding, age 88 of Blaine passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Tennova Residential Hospice. She was born on October 17, 1928 in Hazard, KY. While most thought of Wanda as an only child, she had a brother, Cleon, who passed away before she was born. As a child of the Depression, she traveled throughout the South as they looked for work; finally settling in Knoxville, TN, in her teen years. She met Rufus Breeding, Jr., while attending business college, and they married in March 1947. In 1952, she, Rufus, the older children, along with her brother-in-law, Claude Breeding, moved to the farm near Corryton, TN where she continued to reside until her last days. They moved into a four room house without indoor plumbing with three children under the age of four including Deborah, an infant born with severe disabilities who needed constant care. With the help of a wonderful neighbor/friend, Georgiella Clapp, and her family, Wanda was able to manage the demands of children and home. She was active in her children's lives, participating as a room mother, Brownie leader, and Girl Scout leader. Wanda could always be counted on to take a carload of kids to a ballgame, roller skating, midnight bowling, or any fun activity. All the while, Wanda helped Rufus manage his various businesses. After many years of working by Rufus' side, she decided to pursue her true calling, caregiving, and cared for the elderly until her retirement. Wanda loved her family, to travel, to dance and to laugh. The Breeding family would like to thank the staff of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for the excellent care she received during her month-long stay and the staff of Tennova Residential Hospice for their compassionate care during her last days.
