Wallace Lee Whittington, 85, a resident of Georgetown, Texas for 28 years and formerly of Big Spring, Texas earned his Heavenly reward on Nov. 30, 2016. Wallace was born on April 29, 1931 in Springfield, Missouri to Frank Lee and Maggie Evalena (Holder) Whittington. He met the love of his life, Carolyn June Bay, at the age of 15 and the two were married on May 28, 1950 in Cushing, Oklahoma. Wallace earned his Chemical Engineering degree from Oklahoma A&M University, which led to his career as a refinery superintendent in the Fina Oil and Chemical Company. Wallace retired in 1988 in Big Spring, Texas after 27 years in the industry. He was a man of many accomplishments, yet none were greater than being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Following retirement, Wallace continued to have a servant's heart. He was a master tutor for the Literacy Council of Williamson County; listener in the Awana's program; worked for the Scoring Center of Austin; was the Director of the Williamson County Appraisal Board for two years; and a faithful member of First Baptist Georgetown. Wallace was a practical man of few words, yet when he spoke, you listened. Although he will be greatly missed, his legacy will live on through his family and friends.To cherish his memory, Wallace leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Whittington of Georgetown; son, Timothy Whittington and wife Sandra of Austin, Texas; daughter, Nanette Allen of Krum, Texas; daughter, Janet McKay and husband Steve of San Angelo, Texas; grandsons, Samuel Allen and wife Lilah, Jonathan Allen and wife Ashley, Garrett McKay, and Evan McKay; granddaughters, Michelle Gugas and husband Chad, Sarah Paine and husband Michael, Karlyn Whittington, and Callie McKay; and great-grandchildren: Vianna, Matthias, Rueben, Seth, Michah, Isaac, Kennedy, and Jesse.Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Evalena Whittington.Memorial donations may be made in Wallace's name to First Baptist Church, or the Williamson County Literacy Council. Honored to serve as pallbearers includes, Samuel Allen, Jonathan Allen, Garrett McKay, Evan McKay, Michael Paine and Steve McKay. Honorary pallbearer will be his son, Timothy Whittington.A time of visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 with the funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home.
