He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Evangeline Tierney and Gordon and Janice (nee Tierney) Bundy; five nieces and nephews; and twelve great-nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents,Charles L. and Vivian (nee Brust) Hengels; his brother, Charles F. Hengels; and his sister, Carol A. Hengels. Bill began his career in the audiovisual department at Harper College where one of his jobs was recording the concerts of visiting musicians who were on the verge of making names for themselves. Among Bill's recordings were performances by Jim Croce, Steve Goodman, and Harry Chapin. He then went on to work in audiovisual sales for Midwest Visual; Sony, where he earned the Samurai award as a top salesman; and finally United Visual. Rock music was one of Bill's passions. Not only could he hear a song and name its title, but he could also name the artist, recording company, and the color of the label. He was especially proud of his collection of WLS and WCFL radio station music surveys. Bill also loved playing softball. His favorite spot was on the pitcher's mound where he would lob his infamous "moonballs." His love of this sport led him to coach his children's tee-ball and baseball teams, in addition to basketball and soccer in the other sports seasons. He realized one of his ultimate dreams when the Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series. Bill will be remembered by those who knew him as being fun, loyal, outgoing, and full of stories People have plenty of stories about him, too. His wife and children would like to thank family and friends for their loving care over the years. A special thank you goes to Bill's friends, Bob, Chris, Clark, and Ken, for their unending support. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Our Savior's United Methodist Church, 701 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, IL.
