Virginia McMinimee Obituary

Feb 15, 1944 - Oct 04, 2014

This obituary is administered by:
Virginia "Jinny" McMinimeeVirginia "Jinny" McMinimee of Outlook passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 4, 2014 after a several year battle with cancer. Jinny was born on February 15, 1944, and was the second daughter of Russell and Kristine Brown of Vantage. Jinny's fondest childhood memories were of her family's sheep ranching business, including the yearly drives to Montana. After graduating from Kittitas High School in 1962, Jinny pursued a career as a beautician. Jinny was an avid life long horsewoman, competing professionally as a barrel racer for a period of time. Jinny met her husband of forty years, Jim McMinimee, after he spotted her riding her horse. After marrying Jim, Jinny moved to the Yakima Valley, where they ran a trucking business together and raised their two daughters. Jinny supported her girls in everything they did, including spending many years as part of the Outlook Elementary School PTA and leading their 4-H club. More recently, Jinny and her husband became active in antique tractor pulling, a passion well suited for Jinny's competitive nature that also introduced them to many dear friends. Jinny also relished her role as Grandma Jinny to her two grandchildren, and cherished her large extended family. Jinny is survived by her husband Jim; her daughter Sarah Eacker along with her husband Brent and children Allison and Isaac; her daughter Shannon; her siblings June Moore, Richard Brown, and Sue Inghram; her husband's siblings and their spouses; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.Respecting Jinny's wishes, her family will host a Celebration of Life Luncheon on December 27, 2014 at 12:00 pm (noon) at the Grace Brethren Church in Sunnyside so that her grandchildren can have an opportunity to see all of the people who loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Outlook Volunteer Fire Department or any charity devoted to fighting cancer. Those wishing to sign Jinny's online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Homes Ltd. and Crematory in charge of arrangements.
