SIDNEY — Virginia "Ginny" Beth Lauber, 67, 933 Foraker Ave., Sidney, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at 7:33 p.m. at Wilson Health.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1949, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Virgil and Alma (Steinke) Becher.
On June 23, 1973, Ginny married Stephen Lauber who survives along with their two children, Sebastian (Rachel) Lauber of Tucson, Arizona, and Bridget (Leigh) Hoskins of Westerville, Ohio; one brother, Frank Happy Becher of Moulton, Ohio; and her most valued treasure, her grandchildren, Milo Hoskins, Maya and Silas Lauber. She was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Becher, and two sisters, Julia Becher Horstman and Carolyn Becher Hunt.
Mrs. Lauber earned her Bachelor of Music in Education from Mount St. Joseph in 1971 and her Master of Science in Technology in the Classroom in 1990. She taught at Holy Angels School for 39 years and received awards from the Miami Valley Catholic Education Office for Recognition for Excellence of Teaching, and Appreciation for Advancement of Technology. Her classroom served as a Model for Reading Renaissance.
Ginny enjoyed sewing, quilting, golf and gardening. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church for 41 years, a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and Oaks Ladies Golf League. She was a volunteer for Wilson Hospice, Quilts of Valor, sewed Baptismal Gowns for Holy Angels, and was a Eucharistic Minister.
Visitation for Ginny will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, from 1-4 p.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. In keeping with Ginny's wishes, her body will be cremated following the visitation and a Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Frank Amberger officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Botkins.
