Virginia I. Larick-ThomasBUCYRUS: Virginia I. Larick-Thomas, age 94, of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Maplecrest Assisted Living in Bucyrus.Virginia was born on April 19, 1922 in Wyandot County, Ohio to the late Chester and Ruth (Brewer) Gilliland. She was first married to David F. Larick and he passed away, and she then married Robert Thomas and he also is deceased.Virginia was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Gilliland, and two half brothers, Homer and Gerald "Jerry" Gilliland, and her step-mother Gladys Gilliland.She is survived by 2 daughters: Linda (Roger) Jury of Nevada, and Deb (Roger) Pinion of Bucyrus. Three grandsons: Roger II (Jenni) Jury of Upper Sandusky, Shawn (Erica) Jury of Nevada, Aaron (Macy) Pinion of Westerville. Eight great grandchildren: Jordyn and Ried Jury of Upper Sandusky, Cooper, Adrienne and Clay Jury of Nevada, and Jacoby, Nash and Avery Pinion of Westerville, along with a half-brother Nevin Gilliland of Bucyrus.Virginia was a 1939 graduate of the former Eden High School. She worked for a time for Swan Rubber Company, before getting her cosmetology license from Georgeanne Academy of Hair Design in Tiffin, and then owning and operating Ginny-Lin Beauty Shop in Nevada. Virginia was active member in the Pythian Sisters in Nevada where she held various officer seats and the local and district level. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star formerly in Nevada.She was a member of the Moose Lodge 669,
VFW Post #1078, and American Legion #181, all in Bucyrus. She also enjoyed singing with the Bucyrus Belltones Choir for several years.Virginia enjoyed traveling with Dave on many great trips during their time together. She also enjoyed raising flowers, cooking, and spending time with her family.Funeral services for Virginia Larick-Thomas will be held at 3:00pm Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada, with Rev. Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.Visitations will be held on Monday 1 hour before service time, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, at the funeral home in Nevada.Memorial contributions may be made to the Maplecrest Activities Fund or "Gifts for Yank's -with the Bucyrus American Legion and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 401 S. Main St. Nevada, OH 44849.
