Virginia Grace MorganMerritt IslandVirginia Grace "Ginny" Morgan, 83, was called home to be with Jesus Christ on December 17, 2016. She passed away peacefully while napping with her loyal dachshund Bandit by her side.Ginny was born on February 18, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer John Salvner and Vida Grace (Fraley) Salvner.  Ginny moved to Saginaw, Michigan in about 1937 where she attended Bethlehem Lutheran School. She said she loved roller skating when she was young. She also enjoyed listening to Detroit Tigers baseball with her mother on the radio. Ginny later moved to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan in about 1947 where she attended Mt. Pleasant High School. While in high school she participated in bowling, chorus, choir and musical plays. Ginny graduated in 1951.Shortly after graduation,Ginny met the love of her life, James E. "Jim" Morgan. Ginny recently recalled, "I had just graduated from high school at Mount Pleasant High. My friend Liz and I took a bus to her aunt's house as her aunt had set us up on blind dates. My date was supposed be Larry and Liz's date was supposed to be Jim. When they drove up, Jim and Larry were sitting in the back seat and Liz and I did not know who was who. Jim held his hand out to me and it felt as if a magnet was pulling us towards each other." After a three month courtship, Jim and Ginny married in Royal Oak, Michigan. Jim was always very specific on the details frequently saying that he and Ginny wed "on September 28, 1951 at 6:13:17 p.m." Ginny said that they had a wonderful marriage. They were inseparable.Before leaving Michigan, Jim and Ginny owned a full service gas station, grocery store, butcher shop and snack bar in Milford. They relocated to Cape Canaveral, Florida on December 7, 1957. Ginny was a secretary at the Cape for General Dynamics where she was Valentine's Sweet Heart of the Cape in about 1959. Later she was a decorator and worked in the health care field.In the mid-1970's, Ginny coached girl's little league softball teams in Cape Canaveral.  She was head coach of two teams that went to state including the "Charmers". Through their years in Brevard County, Ginny and Jim owned and operated a number of restaurants and night clubs including Diamond Ginny's which Jim named after her.She and Jim were avid bowlers for many, many years at Shore Lanes in Merritt Island, often participating in three leagues or more per week in her prime. They made many good friends there. Ginny's highest score ever was a 279.She enjoyed the time she spent with Jim and family at their cabin on Round Mountain in North Carolina. This was their home away from home and sanctuary. She loved the beautiful view from their cabin and visiting the nearby town of Brevard, North Carolina. She was very creative and artistic. She created beautiful pottery and oil paintings. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room.Ginny loved to shop and she was quite good at it. She was also known for collecting angels and "little piggies".Ginny's faith in God was strong. She recently shared, "God has helped me all these years and God will step in for you. I truly believe this. Pray and believe what you pray and trust Him and things will change." Ginny loved Christmas and was full of the Christmas spirit again this year. Just last week she danced and sang Christmas songs with her youngest great grandchild.She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Morgan, Sr. Siblings Bill, Len and Ken Salvner and Debbie (Salvner) Herr also preceded her in death.Ginny always put her family first! She will always be our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ginny had four children; Rita Kim (Morgan) Misodoulakis of Cape Canaveral, Florida, the late Ginny Lee (Morgan) Mock, James Elbert (Becky) Morgan, Jr. of Merritt Island, Florida, and John Wayne (Michelle) Morgan of Berea, Kentucky. She leaves behind nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Beckman-Williamson Funeral  Home in Cocoa Beach at 2:00PM Thursday, December 22, 2016.
