VIOLA R. SPLINTER, 77 WINSLOW - Viola R. Splinter, 77, of Winslow, IL passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Center in Freeport, IL. Viola was born on October 7, 1936 to Walter and Emma (Haidtke) Splinter in Oneco Township in Stephenson County. She worked on the family farm until 1960. She then worked at the State Bank of Winslow and Community Bank from 1960 until her retirement in 2007. Viola was a member of Grace Free Methodist Church in McConnell, IL. She also volunteered at the Freeport Pregnancy Center and the Stephenson County Hospice. She is survived by her cousins, Wesley Wessels of McConnell, IL, Carolyn Nyreen of Boston, MA, Mary Ann (John) Birkholtz of Cedarburg, WI; and numerous other cousins; and good friend, Elizabeth Itnyre of Polo, IL. Viola was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Grace Free Methodist Church in McConnell, IL. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville, IL. Pastor Paul Alf will officiate the service. Burial will be at Basswood Cemetery in McConnell, IL. A memorial has been established for Grace Free Methodist Church and the Freeport Pregnancy Center.
