Vincent D. Roman, 93, passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Vincent was born on Dec. 29, 1922, in Larksville. His parents were Dominick J. Roman and Nellie A. Roman, of Kingston, and he had two brothers, the Rev. Joseph J. Roman and John Roman, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Nuttall.

He is survived by his sons, Vincent T. Roman, M.D., and his wife, Kaytee, of Tulsa, Okla., James J. Roman, of Kingston; daughters, Mary Lu Tristram and husband, Al, of Dover Del., Therese M. Jabon and husband, David, of Chicago; several grandchildren, Jamie Yost and husband, Ty, Jennifer Moelling and husband, Jon, Christopher Roman and fiancee, Bethany, Michael Jabon and fiancee, Maya, Maria Jabon, Sarah Jabon, Liz Anne Roberts and husband, Josh, Evan Roman and wife, Haley; numerous great-grandchildren include Taylor and Cory Case, Justin Yost, Kirsten Rosentel, Dylan Shedlock, and Adalyn Moelling.

Vincent attended Kingston public schools from first grade through high school and was a member of the Kingston High School, class of 1940. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the U.S. Navy in both Atlantic and Pacific fleets. He served as an aviation radioman and aerial gunner on PB Mariner Patrol Bomber planes. Upon completion of his service to the country, he attended Syracuse University and graduated as a professional engineer in 1951.

Vincent spent a long career as a professional electrical engineer that began at E.I. Du Pont De Nemours Import Commercial Construction Division. He also worked for Lacy, Atherton and Davis Architects and Engineers in Wilkes-Barre for 13 years, followed by a term as an associate at Allan Rodda and Hawks Architects and Engineers, before becoming the Chief of Electrical Engineering Division of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of General Services Bureau of Engineering and Architects, until his retirement in 1991.

He is very proud of the instrumental role he played in the many projects throughout the northeast. Some projects he worked on included the Dorothy Dixon Darte Theater of Performing Arts at Wilkes University, Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston, the expansion of Beaver Stadium, the Avoca Airport, as well as numerous other large commercial ventures, including colleges, banks, churches, medical facilities and schools.

He is a life member of VFW Post No. 218, Forty Fort, and a life member of American Legion Post No. 395, Kingston. He also was a past member of the Dallas Kiwanis Club serving as an officer, and a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Shavertown.

Funeral services will be 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. The Rev. James J. Paisley will officiate. Friends may call 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Vincent's honor may be made to The United States Navy Memorial Foundation, 701 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
